Holy Fuck - Red Lights (2011)
Just some cool cats playing drums.
At times in this newsletter I’ve gone into detail about the making of a video or a particular detail. But sometimes, it’s just cats playing drums, driving cars, causing explosions, looking badass and there’s not much more to it! If you watch one music video from all the emails thus far, I think it should be this one.
The band definitely made this as a gimmick, but it works! It perfectly captures the truly unbelievable amount of space cats have taken up on the internet, and particularly how much they totally dominated the early 2010s (LOLcats anyone? Nyan cat? Yeah.) Importantly, it declares cats the undefeated winner of the culture wars.
Not much more to say, 10/10 video.

Why is suggestive theatre (I just made up that name) so endearing. Like this makes me think of a play where they are all in all black with just papers on their head that say their character name: JOE, DOCTOR, BYSTANDER, etc. I love the way the shot list is “dog at wheel”, “bike slide” (which will always be a kaho na pyaar hai reference to me) “cat at wheel” “explosion”. Makes me feel I’m trying too hard at life.
